Benny also holds Ash in high regard. He rarely seems annoyed by his assessments, as Iris is, and admires him for being an expert in so many different fields.

Ash and Serena have actually known each other since childhood, although Ash doesn't initially remember her. He was very supportive of her back then, too, which could be due to her affection for him. It often seems as if Serena is in love with him; whether Ash shares these feelings is unclear, as he doesn't respond to her hints. However, he seems to like Serena very much, as evidenced by the fact that he asks her if she wants to join him. Otherwise, he treats her the same way he did with her predecessors. In "[[Gifts from the Heart!]]," however, he gives her a blue ribbon, which shows his support for her goal of becoming a top performer and how close their friendship is. In "[[What a Wonderful Time!]]," Serena finally kisses Ash after saying goodbye to everyone. Ash is surprised by this, but doesn't really react, so it's unclear whether he feels anything more than friendship for her.
