Ketchup is a villager introduced in Dōbutsu no Mori e+. She is a duck with a peppy personality who was originally exclusive to the game before making her eventual return in Animal Crossing: New Leaf, as part of the Welcome amiibo update. Scanning her amiibo card will cause Ketchup to appear in the RV park and she can be invited to live in the village. She is the eldest of three triplets. Her catchphrase, “bitty” is with another villager with the same name.

Her name is shared with a condiment known as ketchup, which is produced from tomatoes.

Appearance

Ketchup is a red duck with a yellow beak, orange cheeks, and a few strands of green hair. Ketchup's head looks like a tomato, especially because her hair is arranged to look like tomato leaves. She initially wears a blue rose shirt.

Some other villagers that are designed to resemble food include Carrot, Merengue, Zucker, and Tangy.

Personality

As a peppy villager, Ketchup is often in a good mood and easy to befriend. Ketchup has a tendency to overreact in conversations about trivial topics and usually becomes overly excited at the sight of the player or other villagers. Like other peppy villagers, Ketchup is rarely discouraged from doing anything, including her usual hobbies. Peppy villagers like Ketchup dream of becoming famous in the future and read Ms. Nintendique.

Ketchup also has a very short attention span, so she soon forgets some arguments or tasks that were given to the player or are incomplete. Ketchup is easily angered in a conversation when the wrong things are said. She gets along well with other villagers, particularly lazy, big sister, jock, normal, and other peppy villagers. Ketchup can annoy and become annoyed with cranky and smug villagers, which differ in personality drastically. Due to the nature of peppy villagers, Ketchup may refer to cranky villagers as "old" or "boring," contrasting with her opposite, upbeat personality.

History

Dōbutsu no Mori e+

In Dōbutsu no Mori e+, Ketchup appears only if the player scans her corresponding e-Reader card, then she moves into town.

Animal Crossing: New Leaf - Welcome amiibo

In Animal Crossing: New Leaf - Welcome amiibo, Ketchup similarly appears only if the player scans a corresponding card, in this case her amiibo card. After Ketchup's card is scanned, she appears in the campgrounds and is invited to move into the villager area.
