==Etymology==
Its Japanese name, Tsunekichi, is formed from the word "kitsune" (species of fox to which it belongs) and the ending "kichi", common in many Japanese names.
Its Spanish name, Ladino, refers to the adjective used to describe someone who acts cunningly and discreetly (referring to the fact that they will try to sell counterfeits to earn berries ). It may also refer to the folk tale of Aladdin, who lived in a place with many bazaars just like the one in which the character lives.
Its English name, Redd, derives directly from the color red in reference to the fact that it is a red fox.
