Delia has a starring role in some episodes of the Pokémon Chronicles, and she also appears in some of the films.

History

Young Delia with Professor Oak and Spencer in Pokémon 3: The Movie - Spell of the Unown: Entei

As can be seen in a photo in the film Pokémon 3: The Movie - Spell of the Unown: Entei, Delia has known Professor Oak and Professor Spencer Hale, with whom she has a very good friendship, for many years; which implies that she has been living in Pallet Town for a long time and that she raised her son Ash there, who occasionally played with Molly Hale, the daughter of her friend Spencer. Delia also got to know Spencer's wife before she disappeared.

In "Lights, Camerupt, Action!," it is shown how Delia and Professor Oak used to take Ash and Gary, respectively, to see movies together before the two began their journey.

Pokémon the Series: The Beginning

In "Pokémon, I Choose You!," Delia enters Ash's room to send him to sleep, but Ash tells her he cannot sleep because he is anxious about the start of his upcoming Pokémon journey. Delia tells Ash that if he is going to stay awake, he should at least watch educational programs and puts on a film on TV in which Professor Oak talks about the next aspiring Pokémon Trainers.

The next day, Delia, along with other Pallet Town residents, gather at the entrance to Professor Oak's lab to welcome Ash after obtaining his first Pokémon. Delia packs Ash's backpack with everything he needs for his trip, including his clothes, and orders him to change his underwear daily. After seeing Ash's first partner Pokémon, Pikachu, she comments that it seems like a strange Pokémon for not wanting to enter its Poké Ball, which provokes Pikachu, who electrocutes Delia, Ash, and the others, leaving them unconscious.

In the following episode, "Pokémon Emergency!," Ash contacts Delia after arriving at the Pokémon Center in Viridian Town, where Delia is surprised to learn that Ash had arrived so quickly. Delia tells Ash that it took his father (his grandfather in the Japanese version) four days to get there, and that she would be proud of his son. Delia then tries to cheer Ash up with her enthusiasm, but Ash is still worried about Pikachu, who is badly injured after being attacked by Spearow. Later, Professor Oak mentions during his call with Ash that Delia was the one who told him Ash had already arrived in Viridian City.

Delia appears to support Ash during his participation in the Indigo Plateau Conference in Kanto.

Delia supports Ash at the Silver Conference in Johto. At the end of Ash's journey in Johto, Delia gives him new clothes for his new journey in Hoenn.

In "The Unbeatable Lightness of Seeing!," Delia sends Ash food through Professor Oak to keep him in shape for his upcoming battle against Brandon.

In "Alola to New Adventure!," after Mr. Mime wins a contest to visit, the prize turns out to be a trip to the Alola region, which Delia and Mr. Mime visit, along with their son, Ash, and their main Pokémon, Pikachu. Before leaving, Professor Oak asks him to take a egg to his cousin Samson Oak. Seeing that Ash has enjoyed his stay there, he decides to leave him with his friends at the Pokémon School and return to Kanto.

In "Alolan Open House," Delia visits her son in the Alola region, where he and his class give a presentation. There, she meets the Pokémon her son captured on the trip and shows special affection for Litten, which she temporarily employs to battle Team Skull. Delia later returns back home to Pallet Town.

In "Lillier and the Staff!," Delia returns to the Alola region to see Ash and his friends perform a typical piece of art from the region. At the end of the event, she returns home.

She witnesses the evolution of Ash's Meltan into Melmetal. At the end of "Enter the Champion!," Delia sees Ash emerge victorious and become the first champion of the Alola region.

In "Legend? Go! Friends? Go!," Delia decides to accompany Ash and Oak to the opening of the Cerise Laboratory because she is tempted to visit the beauty salons in Vermilion City. Delia later leaves Vermilion City upon learning that Ash has decided to become a research assistant at the Institute, but Delia leaves her Mr. Mime to keep a close eye on Ash.

In "Betrayed, Bothered, and Beleaguered!," when Delia visits a friend in Vermilion City she decides to also visit Ash at the Cerise Laboratory, and she accepts Professor Cerise's invitation to spend the night. Delia learns that Ash's Pikachu is jealous because Ash is spending a lot of time with his Riolu, so Delia cheers up Pikachu by allowing him to sleep with her. Delia returns to Pallet Town, where she is followed by Pikachu and Mr. Mime, though she is unhappy at Pikachu for leaving Ash.

Delia reappears in "Friends, Rivals, Lend Me Your Spirit!." After watching a battle between Ash and Paul, Delia invites Ash and Goh to stay the night at her home before the former participates in the Masters Eight Tournament, to which both agree. Delia later photographs Ash with all of his Pokémon, including those he left at Professor Oak's Laboratory.

In "Battling as Hard as Stone!," Delia is in Professor Oak's Laboratory, watching the battle between Ash and Steven Stone, the Pokémon Champion of the Hoenn region, in the quarterfinals of the Masters Eight Tournament.

Personality and characteristics

Delia is a very caring mother to Ash, always trying to watch over him and remind of what he can and cannot do. Delia is also protective of Ash and wants the best for him, and in Pokémon The Movie 2000, it is shown that Delia would even go by Ash's side if he were in trouble. She often reminds Ash to change his underwear, embarrassing him.

Delia is very talented, winning a beauty pageant and cooking a dish so popular that elite chefs on the Indigo Plateau asked her for the recipe. Nothing is known about Ash's father, and it is unclear if they are divorced, although Delia had contacted him at least once before Ash left.
